Warm liquid is something that most of us take for granted; we use it on a daily basis and only notice if we are without it. However, it has not always been this simple to use warm liquid and there were not always hot water cylinders to help heat your home.

In fact, there is a lot you probably don’t know about heating liquid. Keep reading to find out some interesting facts about hot water cylinders.

Fact 1:

Warm liquid is something many of us use on a daily basis without thinking about it; essentially it is something we take for granted. In today’s world, hot water cylinders effectively heat and dispense warm liquid in our homes. We are so used to this that we sometimes forget that it wasn’t always this simple. As bizarre as it sounds, someone actually had to invent a way to use warm liquid, but have you ever considered where this invention came from? This invention essentially a very early version of a hot water cylinder.

Interestingly, the first recorded liquid heating device was created in 1868 in England. The invention worked by running cold liquid through pipes that were placed close to a gas burner. The gas burner heated the metal pipes, which in turn heated the liquid as it went through. After this, the liquid would then come out of the pipe and be stored in a tub where it could be used.

Fact 2:

Something all adults hate is paying utility bills, when that time of the month comes around it is sure to set you back a few hundred dollars. However, it is a necessary evil and if you fail to pay your bills on time, you may find yourself without gas, electricity and water; this is something we all want to avoid! While you are paying your utility bills, you probably have no idea what is costing you the most money every month.

Roughly 25% of the energy used in your home is due to heating liquid. This may not sound like much but if you convert it into economic value you might be shocked to find out how much you are spending each month just on warm liquid alone!

It is impossible to live without warm liquid, which is why we spend so much money on heating it! But, there is a way that you can cut this cost slightly. Hot water cylinders are the devices that are responsible for heating the liquid, and the type you own will have an impact on how efficient it is. So, if you are hoping to save a bit of money in the long run, try investing in a high efficiency device, instead of an entry level one. Buying a better-quality heater, could help you reduce your energy consumption by about 10% to 50%.

Fact 3:

It’s common knowledge that liquid does not enter your home warm; a hot water cylinders job is to heat it up. But have you ever considered what temperature the liquid is before it is heated by a device?

The exact temperature will depend on your location and the source of the liquid. However, as a general rule, natural unheated liquid will come into your home at around 10 degrees Celsius. This is obviously very cold, meaning your device will have to generate a lot of power to get the liquid to the desired temperature.

It is important to be careful when it comes to dealing with hot water cylinders and warm liquid. this is because hot liquid can easily burn your skin. You may be surprised to find out that Human skin can actually get third degree burns in just a few seconds if it is touched by scorching liquid. Therefore, you need to be aware when you are in close proximity to liquid that is 60 degrees or more.
