Don’t do what I did and leave packing your bag until the last minute! I forgot so many important things like a camera for one and I know for sure that next time I will be prepared. So to help you get ready for the big day, we’ve put together a list of items that we think would be useful when going to hospital.
FOR YOU:
Birth Plan (if you have one)
Camera
Loose or comfortable T-Shirt or nightie for labour
Aromatherapy Oils for during labour if you choose
CD’s & CD Player for during labour
Heat Pack for during labour and afterwards
Nighties or pyjamas with front opening for breastfeeding
Maternity Bras
Maternity Pads x 3 packs
Underwear – take at least 3 to 4 pairs per day
Drinks/Snacks for during labour (barley sugar is great to keep energy levels
up)
Toiletries
Dressing Gown
Slippers
Comfortable clothes for day wear
Breast Pads x 1-2 packs
Tissues
Medicare Card/Private Hospital Cover details
Books/Magazines
Plastic Bags for dirty laundry
Pen/Paper
Some hospitals require you to take a mug/cup for your husband as they don’t
supply it
FOR BABY:
Singlets x 4
Bodysuits x 4
Wraps
Socks
Beanie
Blanket
Disposable Nappies or Cloth which ever you choose to use
Scratch Mittens
Bottles, Formula, Teat etc if bottle feeding
Bath Oil/Wash
Some hospitals will supply nappies and clothing for your baby, however you
can use your own if you wish.
